The event “Let’s restore dignity to mutilated women” took place in the Senate, on the initiative of Sen. Marco Scurria, promoted by the non-profit organization A.N.G.E.L.S. on the occasion of the International Day against Female Genital Mutilation which occurs on February 6th.
The event, organized by Benedetta Paravia, aims to fight the crime of FGM in every area of society: political, cultural, media and medical. In fact, a parterre of experts in each of these sectors attended. Present were Senator Marco Scurria, secretary of the Senate’s EU Policies Commission, the Honorable Federico Mollicone (president of the Culture, Science and Education Commission – Chamber of Deputies), Senator Susanna Campione (member of the Senate Justice Commission and of the Bicameral Commission of Inquiry into Feminicide), professor Maria Rita Parsi (psychotherapist and essayist), journalist Ida Molaro and professor Aurora Almadori (surgeon specialized in post-genital mutilation reconstruction) and ethical partner of A.N.G.E.L.S. Onlus, which presented its reconstruction technique through the use of stem cells. The artistic-cultural-humanitarian project “Women in love” against the crime of FGM therefore continues, through which cultural change is implemented and the victims of this crime against humanity are operated on free of charge
